Working from home.

Hi everyone it is a very strange feeling not to be in our lovely nursery and it is only day one and I am missing our wonderful children and the team.

It was an incredibly tough decision to close the nurseries doors but at least it is not forever and we are helping to keep people safe by staying at home. I am going to try and add some ideas so that you can have some fun at home.

I started my day with Jo Wicks and his PE lesson and I have to say our pre-school children would really like this. It is half an hour and can easily be done in the lounge. It starts at 9.00 am if you want to do this live and this morning there was an amazing 850,000 people logged in. If you cannot face it at 9.00 am during the live stream you can pick it up later in the day. In nursery we like our movement to music session and Sticky Kids that can be accessed on Spotify it is great. We also do some fantastic singing in nursery on a daily basis and nursery rhymes are in abundance to download. I will create a list of our favorite songs in the next couple of days.

A couple of parents have asked me for a little run down of a day at Tree Tots so they can follow the timetable. This is a brief day if I wrote everything we did I would be creating a book.

We have breakfast at 8.00 am and at nursery this means that we have a good hour while children are arriving and eating and having a play.

At 9.00 we start activities and these comprise of sensory play, opportunity to play with toys selected by the children, small world play and we also have craft activities. In pre-school the children have some time to look at phonics and number activities but they also look at calendar to help with their learning of time.

Also during the morning the children have an outside play session and all our children love to be outside, if you have a garden please let them play out fresh air is fantastic for them and will help them sleep if you want them to have a nap.

At 11.15 we start to get ready for lunch ensuring children are washing hands and are ready to eat at 11.30. After eating our little ones go for a well earned nap and the older children have a story or they may do some singing or some more phonics type work. This gives them a chance to have a sit down and let lunch settle down. The older children then have some learning through play activities.

When everyone is up again we generally have a snack time (after washing hands) at 2.00pm the children all enjoy this and our pre school children select a piece of fruit at this time.

Then it is back to activities and playing, sensory, craft etc, we also make use of the gardens and have more outside play opportunities.

At 3.45 it is hand washing time and then tea time at 4.00.

Then we have more activities and stories as we go through the busy time when you pick your lovely children up to take them home,.

This in a nutshell is our day. I will pop some ideas on the blog of activities that the children can do at home. Warning I may send sensory activities.

On Facebook we have put a post with some mathematics activities and Twinkl this is a brilliant website full of great ideas it is free of charge at the moment and I would highly recommend it.

I hope this is of some help to give you a little timetable.

Catch you all tomorrow

Helen
